London Okinawa Day 2012

Okinawa Day in London 2011This year will again see a celebration of Japan’s tropical Okinawa islands at Spitalfields in London. Okinawa Day 2011 at Spitalfileds was an amazing success with over 8,000 visitors and this year’s event is looking to be another fun day out!

Events being planned for the main square include performing arts (and eisa dancing), arts and crafts and Okinawa and Japanese food.
The programme will include:
● Okinawan music (folk and classical songs accompanied by sanshin lute, drumming performance), eisa dance and workshops and karate performances. Performances will be by individuals and groups from the U.K and Okinawa.
● Food stalls including Okinawa buku buku cha (Okinawan tea ceremony) and food outlets selling Okinawa and Japanese food.
● Arts and crafts stalls from Okinawa - display of unique and original arts and crafts objects from Okinawa and original t-shirts and tote bags.
Also available will be free travel and cultural guides to Okinawa.
