Tokyo’s Kiddy Land Now Open

July 03, 2012

A New Hot Spot for Hello Kitty Fans
On 1 July 2012, Kiddy Land’s popular flagship Harajuku store was re-opened after an almost two-year closure for extensive renovations. Since its opening in November 1950, Kiddy Land Harajuku has been regarded as a hot spot delivering new and exciting trends in the world of toys.

The newly renovated Kiddy Land Harajuku is Tokyo’s leading character merchandise and specialty toy stores. For visitors from the UK, the “Hello Kitty Shop Harajuku” is likely to be the biggest draw. The store offers limited edition items in addition to its extensive range of products, thereby creating a special space that can only be found at the Harajuku store.

This shop offers merchandise of popular Sanrio characters loved all over the world, such as Hello Kitty, My Melody and Little Twin Stars. The cute, pink shop is designed to look like Hello Kitty’s bedroom. An array of products that meet visitors to Japan’s demand for something “Japanese” have also been selected in order to transmit Japan’s “cute (“kawaii”) culture” to the world.

The Next Kiddy Land Floor
This floor will provide a great introduction to what’s cool in Japan, offering a wide variety of products of the latest trends, from general merchandise and stationary, to smart phones and music player accessories. You will also find seasonal promotions for Halloween, Christmas and other seasonal events, as well as exciting goods for the latest popular characters. Displays and goods on this floor will change in accordance with events and seasons. The store’s first promotion will focus on the 3-D action blockbuster series “The Amazing Spider Man”, the Marvel Entertainment movie distributed by Sony
Pictures, which will be released in Japan before anywhere else in the world.

The newly renovated store has improved its overall structure to offer a barrier free environment that enables customers in wheelchairs or with baby carriages to shop with ease. They have also increased the number of foreign-language speaking staff to improve customer service. Shoppers should note, Kiddy Land Harajuku Cat Street store, which has been opened as a temporary store whilst the Harajuku flagship underwent renovations, has now closed.
